国产探花 joins team shaping the future of Jamaica鈥檚 Independence Park聽

国产探花 is proud to be working as part of the multidisciplinary team supporting the redevelopment of Jamaica鈥檚 iconic National Stadium at Independence Park.聽

International design practice Ryder Architecture and specialist sports consultancy CAA ICON have unveiled bold new designs for this landmark project, which is set to redefine the nation鈥檚 rich sport and entertainment legacy. 

Commissioned by the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport (MCGES)鈥痑nd supported by UK Export Finance鈥痶he鈥45,000sqm stadium and鈥痬asterplan鈥痳epresents鈥痑n鈥痮pportunity to create a world鈥痗lass destination rooted in Jamaican culture,鈥痟eritage鈥痑nd sporting excellence.鈥 

With a鈥37,500鈥痵eat鈥痗apacity,鈥痙esigned to meet FIFA and World Athletics standards, the venue will feature a鈥痭ine鈥痩ane鈥痑thletics track, two fan zones, premium hospitality lounges, and a fan boulevard, while accommodating up to 50,000 people for concerts and major entertainment events.鈥

The design team,鈥痺hich includes鈥交, Turner & Townsend and Oxford Economics,鈥痟as鈥痺orked closely with鈥疢CGES鈥痵ince鈥2024鈥痶o assess the future potential of Independence Park.鈥疘nitial feasibility studies concluded that鈥痑 new,鈥痯urpose鈥痓uilt鈥痜acility was essential to realise Jamaica’s鈥痩ong鈥痶erm鈥痑mbitions.鈥 

The vision has been shaped through more than 50 stakeholder engagement sessions involving MCGES,鈥痗ommunity鈥痳epresentatives, delivery partners and the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football鈥(Concacaf), to create a masterplan that will鈥痳ival some of the best sporting facilities in the world.鈥

The new stadium, defined by its striking roof design, will have the flexibility to host world class concerts and major international events. The wider masterplan will create a dynamic civic destination where sport, culture, and community come together for residents and visitors alike.  

鈥淭he existing training stadium will also be鈥痳etained鈥痑nd enhanced through upgraded pitches, expanded facilities, and stronger connections to the surrounding public realm鈥撯痗reating a connected, future鈥痳eady sporting campus. Together, the redevelopment will position Independence Park to support Jamaica鈥檚 ambitions on the global stage, including its FIFA Women鈥檚 World Cup 2031 bid.鈥濃

Design and鈥痶echnical鈥痙esign鈥痑re expected to鈥痯rogress in鈥疛une 2026, with a start on site date of鈥痵ummer 2027.鈥
