Port Polska (CPK airport)

A consortium of 国产探花 and architect Foster + Partners, won the competition to design Port Polska (CPK airport) between Warsaw and 艁贸d藕.

The project will act as a symbolic gateway to Poland 鈥� a 21st century transport interchange, which brings together air, rail and road, while reflecting the country鈥檚 national identity and providing exceptional passenger experience.

The vision for Port Polska (CPK airport) finds a balance between operational efficiency, environmental responsibility and symbolic expression. The development will be constructed 37km west of Warsaw, covering around 3,000ha. Port Polska鈥檚 railway station will deliver connections across Poland, allowing for convenient transfers between Warsaw and the largest Polish cities. An Airport City will also be created close to the Port Polska site, delivering space for trade fairs and conference facilities as well as offices and research and development hubs.

The design includes a landside interchange plaza, with lush greenery, flooded with natural light. People will congregate in this vibrant space before travelling or when welcoming visitors. The design includes a simple, continuous vaulted roof, which intuitively directs passengers from the plaza towards the aircraft.

The vision optimises the passenger experience, making it accessible and inclusive. The functional and flexible layout, with minimal level changes, will allow for efficient and seamless passenger flows and optimised transfers. Visual connections to the surrounding landscape will anchor the transport hub within its geographic context and help to establish a strong sense of place.

Opportunities for modularisation and prefabrication are to be maximised, allowing the transport hub to adapt to ever-evolving operational needs. This creates a resilient and future-proof scheme that stands the test of time. Port Polska will initially serve up to 34 million passengers annually and then expand to meet the 65 million passenger target in 2060.

国产探花 is the engineer of record for structures. Until the end of Port Polska Stage Four 4 (RIBA Stage 3), 国产探花 is also responsible for the foundation design, geotechnical engineering, facades design/facades maintenance and access, inclusive design, waste and logistics. For Port Polska Stage 5 (RIBA Stage 4), the detailed design phase, 国产探花 will be responsible for the overall structural detailing and geotechnical engineering.
